Is this a viable mechanism for oil migration?

As most water expulsion takes place in clay sediments in the first 2 km of burial and taking into account an average geothermal gradient, oil generation occurs beneath this depth. Would the simple flushing of oil with expelled water be a viable mechanism for primary or secondary migration?
